FALP – Federation of Portuguese Speaking Lawyers is a nonprofit institution that represents Portuguese speaking lawyers throughout four continents: Africa, South America, Asia, and Europe, in jurisdictions where Portuguese is the official language, such as Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Macao, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor.
FALP’s mission is to:
- defend principles of the Rule of Law and the fundamental duty which lawyers shall exercise in the defense of the citizens’ rights;
- form a digital library with relevant topics of the Law of jurisdictions where Portuguese is the official language;
- support investigation in the Law;
- create networks and platforms for knowledge and exchange of information;
- prepare content;
- develop the relationship with bar associations and lawyers associations, representatives of classes of lawyers in jurisdictions where Portuguese is the official language, universities, collective and individual groups;
- promote the relationship among lawyers from jurisdictions where Portuguese is the official language;
- promote the relation with citizens and communities in jurisdictions where Portuguese is the official language;
- organize events – seminars and congresses – to occur alternately in jurisdictions where Portuguese is the official language.
